  10.        This release note describes patch SG0000070 to IRIX 5.2.

  14.        This patch contains bug fixes for all configurations.  The
  15.        software cannot be installed on other configurations.

  19.        This patch contains fixes for the following bugs in IRIX
  20.        5.2.  Bug numbers from Silicon Graphics bug tracking system
  21.        are included for reference.

  23.           +o Bug #229026: When there are multiple induction
  24.             variables in a loop, the optimizer tries to eliminate
  25.             the extra induction variables by replacing their
  26.             occurrences by one of them.  When the termination test
  27.             of the loop is (i > 0) where i is unsigned, the
  28.             optimizer will potentially replace i by another
  29.             unsigned induction variable k by changing the
  30.             termination test to (k >= 0), causing the loop to
  31.             iterate indefinitely and thus this bug. This patch will
  32.             prevent this erroneous replacement from happening.

  43.        Because you want to install patches for only the problems
  44.        you have encountered, patch software is not installed by
  45.        default. After reading the descriptions of the bugs fixed in
  46.        this patch, determine the patches that meet your specific
  47.        needs.

  49.        Patch software is installed like any other Silicon Graphics
  50.        software product.  It must be installed from the miniroot.
  51.        Follow the instructions in your _I_R_I_S _S_o_f_t_w_a_r_e _I_n_s_t_a_l_l_a_t_i_o_n
  52.        _G_u_i_d_e to bring up the miniroot form of the software
  53.        installation tools.

  55.        Follow these steps to select a patch for installation:

  85.              incompatible.  If this occurs, you must deselect one

  98.        To remove a patch, use the _v_e_r_s_i_o_n_s _r_e_m_o_v_e command as you
  99.        would for any other software subsystem.  The removal process
  100.        reinstates the original version of software unless you have
  101.        specifically removed the patch history from your system.
